Medical Facility

Project Gros Mangles' latest project is constructing the much needed medical facility. On the left, you can see pictures of the construction's progress so far. This project is extremely important as it would provide an infirmary and pharmacy in one convenient location. The objective is to have the construction completed in 2021 once the remaining $20,000 is raised. The next step would be searching for a nurse to staff the facility & figuring out the cost to utilize the facility.

The dispensary was started in January 2014. The inhabitants of Gros Mangles spent 2014 securing land and a deed for the dispensary. From the United States, Project Gros Mangles started raising funds to purchase construction materials and hire skilled laborers. All purchases are made in Haiti to help the local economy, and the we also hire the services of a local architects and a local construction crew from the island of La Gonâve. Volunteers from the village and from Shippensburg University lend additional hands to assist the professional construction workers for a true team effort. Donate below!

The playground project was completed in 2014.

Kids in Gros Mangles have few places to play that are safe. That's why the service project conducted by the students and faculty from the French program at Shippensburg University's Global Language and Cultures Department was so important.

Drs Ragone and Mitaut have been taking groups of students to Haiti since January 2013. Led by Haitian-born facilitator Jonas Celius, the group of students and faculty built a 5,200 square feet playground for l'École Presbytérale in 2013. The group returned in 2014 and completed the project adding 4,000 square feet to the playground.
